April 18-19
We arrived in Abu Dhabi after midnight on April 18. After getting through immigration and customs, we made it to our hotel and got to bed by 2 a.m. I woke up at 6 a.m. to get ready for meetings that morning. After gathering my materials we all met in the lobby and broke into teams. I went with another school to visit scholarship offices. The United Arab Emirates has several full scholarships for students to attend U.S. universities for an undergraduate or graduate degree. Our goal was to visit some of the various scholarship offices to learn more about the programs and see if these programs could be extended to an Emirati student to come to a U.S. boarding school for a 13th year (post graduate). We had a difficult time getting to the various offices since they are not well publicized, and while we didn’t have success in meeting with the people we had hoped for, we obtained names and contacts for follow up in the future. That afternoon we met and visited the American International School of Abu Dhabi (AISA). We held a mini-fair for local private school counselors and families who came to learn more about our schools and what we had to offer.
On April 19, we held a luncheon reception for local school counselors to give them additional information about our specific offerings and then packed up to head to the airport for a flight to Doha, Qatar.
