Monthly Memo: May 2008
Seniors:
You made it! Congratulations! We are very proud of you. There are three weeks left until graduation, so what’s left to do? The main things are to do well on your finals, tie up loose ends, and leave a lasting impression by saying goodbye to HPA with class and character. For College Counseling, we ask that you turn in three final things:
1) Final Transcript Request Form: In accordance with our statement of good practices, College Counseling will only send one final transcript to one college.
2) Senior Grant Survey: Each year, College Counseling runs a survey to learn the total amount of financial grants or merit aid earned by our seniors. We share the total dollar amount, but we keep all details confidential.
3) College Counseling Survey: Each year, College Counseling asks our seniors to evaluate our college counseling performance and suggest areas for improvement.
We also would love to see each one of you before you head out for summer. You have been a wonderful class and we will miss all of you. Click on this link to see which schools your classmates will be attending next year:

Juniors:
Remember that you need to make certain that you have met with College Counseling by the end of the year to review your college goals, senior class selection, summer plans, and standardized testing. We send each junior home with an initial college list that they will refine during the summer vacation. Many of you still need to distribute your input forms (teacher, advisor, parent, peer) and finish writing your junior self-assessment.
The final testing opportunities for the 2007- 2008 school year: the last SATs are offered on May 3 and June 7; the last ACT is offered on June 14. Remember if you are applying to the University of California system, the CalState System or any other colleges that require SAT IIs, you will need to take two SAT II subject tests. You also will have three opportunities to retake the SAT or SAT II during your senior fall (October, November, and December). You also will have at least one more opportunity to retake the ACT in October. For ideas of productive things to do during summer, please refer to the April Notes. Have a great summer!
