HPA Presents Gala Music Concert on April 13

WAIMEA, Island of Hawaii—Hawaii Preparatory Academy will present its 2008 Gala Music Concert on Sunday, April 13. The concert will feature the HPA choir, orchestra, band, and beginning strings directed by Dr. Madeline Schatz, an internationally-recognized conductor, Upper School music instructor, and music director and conductor of the Kamuela Philharmonic.
The event, which is free and open to the public, starts at 4 p.m. in the school’s Gates Performing Arts Center, located at the Upper Campus.
Highlights include medleys from Les Miserables and The Lion King, performed by the choir, orchestra, and band. The HPA Orchestra will perform a movement from Vivaldi's Concerto Op. 3, No. 10 for four solo violins and orchestra, featuring Kathy Yoon, Alyssa Kelley, Jennifer Haywood-Farmer, and Schatz. The band will play the Gallant Seventh March by John Philip Sousa and Spring from the Seasons by Vivaldi. Other featured student soloists are Mandy Liu on piano and Ji Su Park on saxophone.
