Bookstore
The HPA Bookstore is located on the east side of the Wishard Administration Building (Upper Campus) overlooking the student pavilion with views of the majestic mountains of Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Hualalai. We are open 8-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
All school books can be purchased at the bookstore, along with a wide array of school survival tools such as pens and pencils, binders, and even school-spirit notebooks and folders. Other logo items include key lanyards, Frisbees, stickers, water bottles, backpacks, and much more. During breaks, the bookstore is a popular stop for snack purchases. Boarding students will find everyday odds and ends here, including batteries, toiletries, and laundry detergent. We also are the school's official mailroom, where boarders can send and and receive packages and purchase stamps.
Here, young and the young-at-heart can deck themselves out in the latest Ka Makani fashions. We offer a variety of apparel for toddlers, youth, and adults. We've added new items to our women's and youth clothing line and to support our Go Green initiative, we carry items made from recycled products! In keeping with our sustainability efforts, we invite you to bring your own book bags to carry out purchased items.
The HPA Bookstore can supply you with everything from A-Z. E Komo Mai—Welcome!
How to get the most buy back bucks for your books:
- Be sure your name is clearly written - FIRSTNAME LASTNAME
- Be sure it is as clean as possible - no papers or notes. Any marks and/or notations are removed.
- The value of each book is applied to the student bank as a credit.
•Remember! Don’t write in your books until you’ve confirmed your schedule! The return policy for books is full credit back within the first two weeks. Later than two weeks, the book is considered used.
•Used books can be sold back at the end of each semester. Students will be credited back for 50% of purchased price if in excellent condition. The more battered, the less credit! Keep your book looking good!!!
Four Tips for Selling Back Books
- Take good care of your books. Damage, heavy wear and tear, or excessive marking can make your books nonsalable.
- Don’t discard any reusable CDs or other materials that came with the book.
- Don’t wait too long to sell back books. Dates will be posted. Make sure they’re in before deadlines and make sure they’re books purchased from the bookstore by you. We cannot give credit back otherwise.
- Keep your books secure. Theft of textbooks is on the rise nationwide. Thieves target books to sell at buyback.
