When booking your flights to the island of Hawaii, the final destination should be Kona International Airport (code KOA). Should your travels come through Honolulu, Oahu (code HNL) or Lihue, Kauai (code LIH); we have a group flight on Hawaiian Airlines listed on the form (TBA). Please be aware that there are limited seats on these inter-island flights and are filled on a first-come, first served bases for this current school year of 2008-2009. Note that our group flight is only convenient if you are departing from Honolulu (HNL) or Lihue (LIH). The estimated cost of the group ticket and airport ground transportation $120, one-way (subject to change). We will confirm the date, time, and flight number with you by e-mail.
Students who only require airport ground transportation may reserve a seat on the group bus for $25, one-way (subject to change if we have enough students to transport). HPA also can assist with airport taxi arrangements when group bus is not available. The school's special arrangement with a local taxi company allows us to provide taxi service at a discounted rate of $113, one-way. Other taxi fees might run as high as $120, one way (due to the fuel increase, prices have gone up). Please note that the Kona International Airport is 45 minute south of Kamuela (Waimea).
Students traveling on the Domestic/Inter-Island flights should check in at least 90 minutes prior to the departure time with proper identification (i.e., school ID, driver's license, Passport). If you are an International student traveling on a Visa, you must have your Passport and I-20.
Students arriving on flights other than the scheduled group flight need to email me or fax their original itineraries and indicate that on the form below. When making your own travel arrangements, please adhere to the school calendar. Requests for early departure or late arrival will require approval from your child's respective principal (Mr. Mark Noetzel, Upper School; Mr. Terry Factor, K-8).
Please contact me if you require assistance by phone 808-881-4012; FAX 808-881-4071; or e-mail travel@hpa.edu.
Aloha,
Mrs. U'ilani Stevens
