At the heart of the HPA Upper Campus is the John Edward Dyer Memorial Library, built in 1966. Designed by prominent architect and longtime Hawai'i resident Vladimir Ossipoff, the Dyer Library combines 4000 square feet of a historically significant library building with the academic support materials necessary for a successful college preparatory information literacy program.
There are over 16,000 circulating items incuding books, videotapes, CDs and audiocassettes in our library, and a Pacifica Room with a special collection of Hawaiiana and Oceania books. The library subscribes to over 50 journals and magazines and four daily and two weekly local newspapers.
The Upper School librarian (serving grades 9-12) and the Village Campus librarian (serving grades K-8 at the Lynn Taylor Library) work together to coordinate information literacy objectives as well as the use of the electronic databases and software that support the libraries' operations and the academic endeavors of the K-12 students, faculty and staff.
There are five computers with high-speed internet access available for student research and academic use in the library. A xerox copier is available for computer printing and copying academic materials.
Dyer Library is located next to the Wishard Administration building.
