K-8 Dress Standards
We believe that the learning environment is affected by the students' individual and collective appearance at school. To nurture a positive campus environment and school culture, students are expected to present themselves in a respectful and responsible manner. Hence, conservative clothing and related apparel, in conjunction with personal grooming and hygiene, are the standards for HPA students. A student's grooming and attire should compliment his/her commitment to learning as well as reflect a sense of respect and appreciation for the common values we embrace as a learning community. Students always are expected to use good taste and common sense in their dress.
In the event a student's dress challenges the defined dress code standards, the adult's opinion, the one responsible for the child at school, will prevail. Students who choose to dress or groom inappropriately will be directed to change and will be responsible for making up all work missed while out of the classroom. The principal has clothing that the student may borrow for the day. The clothing is to be cleaned and returned to the principal the following day of school.
