K-8 Principal's Letter
June 6, 2008
Dear K-8 Parents:
Thank you for visiting our school's Web site and utilizing this important communication tool. We encourage you to continue to use our Web site throughout your child's experience at HPA. For those of you new to our school, we welcome you and appreciate your confidence in inviting us to join you to support your child's learning journey. To our returning parents, I extend a sincere mahalo for your ongoing support.
The purpose of this communication is to begin the formal process of communicating with you in preparation for the 2008-2009 school year.
Student/Parent Handbook: The 2008-2009 handbook will be mailed to you later this summer. The handbook includes and outlines the school's policies and procedures. Please be sure to read it and, in particular, be sure to review the section on dress code for Middle School students, as there have been some changes for both regular day dress and the physical education (PE) uniform. Regarding the new PE uniform, the Middle School has designed a PE T-shirt that will be required. The shirts can be picked up along with books at the HPA Bookstore prior to the start of school in August.
Middle School Summer Reading List: This reading list was distributed prior to the end of the school year to all returning students at school and was mailed by the admissions office to all new Middle School students. This list also is posted here on the school's Web site. If, for whatever reason, you cannot secure a copy of the reading list, please contact the Village Campus office and we will make sure you receive one in a timely fashion.
While the Lower School does not require students to read specific literature during the summer, we strongly encourage students to read recreationally! Traditional literature, non-fiction books of interest, and in general, anything that will enthusiastically engage a student with print over the course of the summer is encouraged to reinforce the healthy habit of regular reading.
Lastly, if you have any questions about anything relative to next school year at the Village Campus, please don't hesitate to call our office at 808-885-2501 or e-mail me at tfactor@hpa.edu. Thanks, have a great summer, and see you mid-August! We're going to have a great school year.
Sincerely,
Terry Factor
