Marking a Milestone

Lower School celebrates 100th day of school with fantastic celebration

First Grade teacher Mrs. Chong '82 celebrates 100 days of school with her students.

In a school not too far, where the young minds are bright,
Lived a joyous bunch, in the Lower School light.
A hundred days passed, oh how swiftly they flew,
With learning and laughter, and friendships that grew.

The celebration began, with a project quite grand,
Collecting all wonders, from the sea to the land.
Flowers of colors, a rainbow so bold,
Butterflies fluttering, a sight to behold.

Seashells they gathered, from shores far and wide,
Each one a treasure, the ocean’s own pride.
The children worked hard, with joy in their hearts,
Creating displays, their very own art.

But the highlight, oh my, you should have seen,
The first graders’ costumes, for the hundredth day scene.
Dressed as Centenarians, they hobbled and swayed,
Doing their best grandpa and grandma charade.

With spectacles perched, and canes in their hands,
They shuffled about, in their pretend old-age bands.
Wrinkles drawn carefully, on each youthful face,
Laughing and giggling, all over the place.

“Back in my day,” they’d start to recite,
Telling tall tales, with sheer delight.
Of a world so different, from now it seems,
A place of their making, in their wildest dreams.

The teachers all smiled, at the sight so sweet,
A hundred days in, and still on their feet.
Learning and growing, these young ones so dear,
Celebrating milestones, year after year.

So here’s to the Lower School, and all that they do,
For making each moment, wonderfully new.
A hundred days richer, in knowledge and fun,
Their journey together, has only just begun.
