Explore Hawai‘i while you learn with students from around the world.

With Summer at HPA, you’ll gain an introduction to the HPA experience and make friends from across the U.S. and many different nations. You’ll benefit from expert academic instruction, first-class sports, spectacular outdoor adventures, and a multitude of other activities. Diverse class offerings cover science and humanities, environmental sustainability, creative arts, English language instruction, and much more.

Many students return every summer to take advantage of the outstanding program and to expand their international friendships. Others enroll because they are considering HPA’s full-year academic program or because they are new students who will enter in the fall. Summer at HPA offers something for everyone!

Summer dates for grades 6 to 12

Session I
June 15 to July 2, 2021
Boarders arrive Monday, June 14, and depart on Saturday, July 3, 2021.
Day students attend Monday through Friday, beginning Tuesday, June 15 to Friday, July 2, 2021.

July 6 to July 23, 2021
Boarders arrive Monday, July 5 and depart on Saturday, July, 24, 2021.
Day students attend Monday through Friday, beginning Tuesday, July 6 to Friday, July 23, 2021.

You may enroll in one or both sessions. If boarders attend both sessions, they will be housed in the dorms for the weekend in between the sessions and participate in a Fourth of July celebration. See tuition information below.

Deadlines

Early Decision
Complete and submit your application packet by Friday, January 15, 2021. You will be contacted no later than Friday, February 5, 2021 with your application status.

General Application
Complete and submit your application packet by Friday, May 7, 2021. You will be contacted no later than Monday, May 17, 2021 with your application status.

We may in some circumstances accept applications on a rolling basis after the May 7 deadline. Please inquire at summer@hpa.edu or 808-881-4019.

Tuition

Boarding tuition
$4,800 per session. Tuition covers instruction, room and board, supplies, afterschool intramural sport, weekend excursion fees, and transportation from the Kona International Airport (KOA). If boarders attend both sessions they will be housed in the dorms for the weekend between sessions and participate in a Fourth of July celebration. Airfare, optional sport, health insurance, and personal expenses are extra.

Day tuition
$450 per class block. Classes vary in length from one to three blocks.
